What can I do about the faulty light in my home?
When not properly installed or attended, faulty lights and lighting fixtures throughout your home often pose problems and can become dangerous fire hazards. If you are having problems with a light change, your lamps to LED. If this does not work it can only be a bad switch or wire connection.
Why would my home have a bad switch?
In a lot of homes, the contractor will use less expensive switches and receptacles. These have plug-in holes in the back for the wires instead of using screws on the sides. These less expensive parts work well for several years then detreat do to the extreme heat on the circuit. This is when most house fires are caused, usually in the winter with heaters and in the summer with AC units.
How could my wire connections be bad?
Its important not to use direct burial aluminum wiring without having the wire put in to a conduit. Once the wire gets a crack in it, moisture will turn the aluminum to white power. This can be avoided by using copper wiring for direct burial, although using a conduit is still advises.
What does it mean if lightening blows out my electric items in my home?
If you have a lightning strike on your property and it blows computers, telephones, TVs, garage door openers, electrical appliances, and you see fire coming out of your outlets, your property is improperly grounded or not at all. On some older properties, we find no grounds at all, on newer ones, where landscaping has been done, we often find the ground system cut into. Additionally on the telephone lines to your property, makes sure they come in near the power grounding system so they can be bonded to the same source.
